NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- News Corporation ( NWSA) is delaying the release of The Daily, a news publication for tablet computers, after CEO Rupert Murdoch was expected to unveil it at an event in San Francisco next week, the Associated Press reports.

Murdoch was expected to take the stage with Apple ( AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art on Jan. 19 to launch the digital publication.

News Corp. and Apple have decided to postpone the launch to work out some "technical details" regarding the subscription pay model, the AP reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The Daily is expected to be a $1 a week digital publication subscription product for the iPad that will feature general news, sports, arts and opinion sections. Murdoch reportedly hired over 100 journalists to staff the publication.

An official announcement is now expected within several weeks.
