GE Energy Gets Boost From Lineage Power

By Atlanta Business Chronicle

General Electric Co. plans to buy Lineage Power Holdings Inc. from The Gores Group LLC in a $520 million deal.

GE (NYSE: GE) said Thursday the deal will help Atlanta-based GE Energy spread its technology into the $20 billion-per-year power conversion space led by cloud computing and mobile internet voice, video and data applications. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter.

Plano, Texas-based Lineage Power makes high-efficiency power conversion infrastructure technology and services for the telecommunications and data center industries. The company has nearly 2,300 employees, with manufacturing operations in China, Mexico and India.
