Symantec-Tech Winners/Losers story updated with closing prices.

NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Tech stocks rose Wednesday, helping push the Nasdaq up 20.5 points to 2,737.3.

Security specialist Symantec ( SYMC) increased about 3.2% to close at $17.63, as a Citigroup analyst upgraded the software company to buy from hold and lifted its price target to $22 from $16.

Chipmaker Nvidia ( NVDA) closed up nearly 15% to $23.35, after winning $1.5 billion in a patent-related settlement with Intel ( INTC). The deal will give Intel access to Nvidia's patents, while Nvidia can use Intel's patents from previous agreements.

Intel, which reports its fourth-quarter earnings Thursday after the bell, saw its shares climb 1.2% to $21.30.

IT solutions firm iGate ( IGTE) was up 5.3% to close at $16.26 after announcing this week that it would acquire a majority stake in Indian IT company Patni Computer Systems ( PTI) for $921 million.

iGate, which is backed by private equity firm Apax Partners, initially saw its stock tank 11% after announcing the deal.

Micron Technology ( MU) jumped 7.1% to $9.34, as the semiconductor company rolled out several new flash memory chips for laptops at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Motorola Solutions ( MSI), the enterprise-focused segment of the recently-split Motorola, fell 1.1% to close at $37.96 after Morgan Keegan lowered its price target to $41 from $44.

Shares of Motorola Solutions officially began trading one week ago.
