Natural Power LLC, the U.S. arm of a Scottish wind farm planning, monitoring and designing firm, will more than double its local work force this year.

Jim Adams, president of Natural Powerâ¿¿s North American operations, said the Saratoga Springs office will hire business development, administrative and engineering staff as this year as total employment grows from four to 10 or 11.

A seasoned engineer and a mariner from the United Kingdom will begin working at least temporarily in Saratoga Springs in the next few months as Natural Power continues to develop its U.S. business.

Adams said the parent company is sending staff from the UK to ensure that experienced staff are available to work on key projects until new staff can be hired and trained.

⿿We can⿿t find a lot of the expertise here that we need,⿝ Adams said.

Natural Power sells wind monitoring devices and provides wind power design and management services. The parent company, Natural Power Ltd. in Scotland generated about $30 million in revenue last year.

The U.S. operations, which are headquartered in Saratoga Springs, had more than $1 million in sales last year, its first full year since it entered the U.S. market.

The company has operated in Canada for the past five years.

Adams expects U.S. revenue to grow to more than $2 million next year.

The international company had more than 230 employees around the world as of last summer.
