DG Signs Exclusive Deal To Syndicate Carsey-Werner’s “That ‘70s Show”

DG (NASDAQ: DGIT) ( www.DGit.com), the world’s leading provider of content management and distribution solutions for the advertising, entertainment and broadcast industries, today announced that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Carsey-Werner Television ( www.carseywerner.com) to prepare and distribute the off-network television series “That ‘70s Show” for syndication using its Pathfire platform starting in December 2010. In addition to delivering the series to broadcast television stations, DG will handle content preparation and station delivery communication services.

“Our strategy of integrating the industry’s best broadcast content distribution platform with our world class production services operations continues to be adopted by the industry’s most recognizable content owners and syndicators,” said Neil Nguyen, president and COO, DG. “We’re all excited to expand our on-going partnership with Carsey-Werner Television that already includes providing distribution services for such broadcast stalwarts as ‘The Cosby Show’ and ‘Roseanne.’”

That '70s Show was one of Fox's top rated scripted comedies from September 1998-August 2006 with 200 episodes being produced. Even after nine seasons in syndication, the series continues to be a top performer with 200 broadcast station partners representing 94 percent national coverage.

"We are pleased to broaden the scope of our relationship with DG and the Pathfire platform," said Jim Kraus, president, Carsey-Werner Distribution. "Carsey-Werner has a tremendous line-up of quality off-network programs and we recognize DG's commitment to the advancement of digital distribution for both our advertisers and station partners."

Pathfire is the only end-to-end file based delivery platform in the industry providing best in breed technology and support to deliver HD and SD content. The Digital Media Gateway™ Platform (DMG) with dual quad core processing and built in transcoding enables broadcast stations to splice, rewrap or transcode to create native file types required by their Play-to-Air servers. Pathfire does not require stations to purchase any additional equipment. DG provides 24/7 technical support and the highest delivery success rate in the industry.

“We’re looking forward to receiving ‘That ‘70s Show’ via the Pathfire platform,” said Sonny Hollinghead, Chief Engineer at Newport Television’s Operations Center. “DG’s technology is integrated so well with our station automation software that we know we’ll be able to get the show on air in a matter of clicks, meaning our personnel can work faster, but not harder.”

In 2007, DG, a stalwart in the content delivery market, acquired Pathfire, the leading provider of digital media distribution and management solutions to the television, media and entertainment industries. In doing so, DG made a significant investment in the company’s DMG platform, an automated digital IP-multicast distribution system that allows content providers to distribute media to broadcasters that automatically receive it in their stations. DMG supports a suite of applications tailored to the needs of news, syndication, direct response and other advertising content providers and broadcasters. Users can browse, search or preview broadcast-quality video clips right from their desktops in the intuitive interface. DG’s upgrade to the new HD DMG with embedded transcoding forms the backbone of DG’s dual edge server solution. This extends the platform’s scale, security and reliability while improving its plug-and-play connectivity to file based workflow systems industry wide, helping it become the now marquee standard for the content delivery industry.
