Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ: LEAP), a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless communications services, today announced the retirement of Al Moschner, chief operating officer, effective as of the earlier of December 31, 2010 or the date on which a successor is appointed.

“During Al’s leadership, Cricket has become a leader in the prepaid wireless industry,” said Doug Hutcheson, Leap’s president and chief executive officer. “He has been instrumental in the growth and success of the business. He built and led the teams that have delivered national coverage and a value-leading product portfolio, including Cricket’s best-ever device lineup, and I want to thank him for his many contributions.”

“For several quarters, we have been laying the foundation for a new phase of growth and we now have all of the pieces in place that will enable Cricket to scale into a national carrier,” said Moschner. “As we move into the implementation phase of our strategy, it’s time for new operational leadership that is committed to executing our strategy for many years to come. I wish the team and the many talented Cricket employees continued success and will help them achieve it in any way that I can.”

Mr. Moschner joined Leap as a consultant in September 2004 and was appointed interim senior vice president of marketing before being appointed executive vice president and chief marketing officer in February 2005. He was named COO in July 2008. Before joining the Company, Moschner’s successful career included executive roles with a number of companies, including Verizon Card Services; OnePoint Services, Inc. a telecommunications company that he founded and that was acquired by Verizon; Diba, Inc., a development-stage Internet software company ultimately purchased by Sun Micro Systems; Zenith Electronics and IBM.

Moschner plans to continue working with Cricket in a consulting role following his retirement.

Leap has retained an executive recruitment firm to conduct a search for a replacement for Mr. Moschner and the Company is in the latter stages of that search.
