SEATTLE (AP) â¿¿ L&L Energy has appointed former U.S Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta as vice-chairman of its board of directors, the company said Friday.

Mineta, a former congressman, also will chair the company's nominations committee.

Mineta headed the transportation department for five years, the longest stint by anyone holding that position. He also served as the Secretary of Commerce for six months under President Bill Clinton.
