The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC), through its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG), announced that the Fluor-B&W Portsmouth, LLC team has been awarded the decontamination and decommissioning contract at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Ohio. The contract has an estimated value of approximately $2.1 billion over a 10-year period, which includes an initial five-year period in addition to a potential five-year extension based on performance and government requirements. “We are proud to have been chosen by the Department of Energy for this critical work at Portsmouth as a part of the team with Fluor,” said S. B&W subsidiary Nuclear Fuel Services, Inc. is currently a subcontractor to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC, a firm that provides management and operations at DOE’s Savannah River Site. B&W TSG is also a team member of Savannah River Remediation that currently manages the Savannah River Site Liquid Waste Disposition Program.
