LIN Media (NYSE: TVL), a local multimedia company, is pleased to announce Alesia Hill as the recipient of its 2010 Minority Scholarship and Training Program. Established in 1998, LIN Media’s Minority Scholarship and Training Program awards scholarships to ambitious students pursuing a wide spectrum of fields in or relating to broadcast television and digital media, ranging from producing and engineering to broadcast journalism, community affairs and sales. Students are selected for the program based on various criteria, including academic achievement, passion for broadcasting and desire to contribute to the overall advancement of the industry. Ms. Hill, a junior at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, was selected out of more than 50 student applicants from colleges and universities nationwide to receive a two-year scholarship, for up to twenty thousand ($20,000) dollars per year, which can be used towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board. In addition, LIN Media will provide Ms. Hill with hands-on broadcast training through a paid internship program at WDTN-TV in Dayton, OH. “LIN Media’s Minority Scholarship and Training Program is an integral part of our strategy to strengthen our talent base and deepen connections within our local communities by building on the cultural diversity of our workforce,” said Vincent L. We encourage her continued hard work and success.” LIN Media’s 2009 Minority Scholarship and Training Program recipient Joshua Chagani, now a senior at Elon University, completed his first paid summer internship program at WALA-TV in Mobile, AL, and is currently interning in the Promotions Department at WOOD-TV, in Grand Rapids, MI. Both Minority Scholarship recipients will be offered full-time permanent positions at LIN Media upon graduation and successful completion of the program.
