CH Energy Group Inc. reported net income of $4.6 million, or 41 cents a share, for the second quarter.

This compares to a net loss of $1.4 million, or 7 cents a share, for the Poughkeepsie-based utility in the second quarter of 2009.

Revenue for the 2010 quarter was $201.8 million, up from $178.6 million a year earlier.

For the first six months of 2010, CH Energy (NYSE: CHG) had net income of $27.3 million, or $1.71 a share, on revenue of $504.4 million. This compares to net income of $21.9 million, or $1.12 a share, on revenue of $500.7 million, in the first half of 2010.

CH Energy is parent to Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., which serves parts of Albany, Columbia and Greene counties.
