APS Announces First Group Of ‘qualified Installers’

By Phoenix Business Journal

Arizona Public Service Co. has rolled out the names of the first companies to go through an installation program with the utility.

The Qualified Solar Installer program is designed to give consumers a way of knowing which companies have gone through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, have the proper licenses and have high customer service ratings, APS officials said.

⿿These installers are leaders in the industry,⿝ said Eran Mahrer, APS⿿ director of renewable energy. ⿿They understand the complexities associated with the various types of solar installations and are dedicated to the highest level of technical skills, customer service and consumer safety.⿝

APS developed the program as it saw the number of solar installers soar from 41 in 2006 to more than 300.

Sixty companies participated in the utilityâ¿¿s first round of training, and 32 of them have been certified. APS anticipates about 75 will receive certification by the end of the year.
