NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- A federal judge has blocked a few key parts of the controversial Arizona immigration law. U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton put on hold the part of the law that required officers to check a person's immigration status, as well as the part that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times. These aspects of the law will be suspended until they are completely are resolved by the courts. The law was adopted in April and was meant to discourage illegal immigrants from entering or remaining in Arizona. The aspects of the law that Judge Bolton did not suspend are scheduled to go into effect on Thursday. -- Reported by Theresa McCabe in Boston.
