Although the price of crude oil rose $2.89 last week thanks to Tropical Storm Bonnie, the minimal increase shouldnâ¿¿t cause a big jump in gasoline prices at the pump, AAA Auto Club South said.

Crude oil closed Friday at $78.98 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, even though Bonnie weakened before ever making landfall.

⿿As with any rise in the price of crude oil, retail gas prices will increase. Crude⿿s price increase was minimal, so consumers shouldn⿿t see too big a jump in retail prices this week,⿝ said Jessica Brady, manager of AAA public relations.

The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $2.73 per gallon, up 1 cent from last week. Floridaâ¿¿s average price of $2.67 shows a 3-cent increase from last week.

In metro Orlando, the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline currently is $2.61, up 5 cents from a week ago.
