By The Business Journal of Milwaukee

Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc. will expand its waste-hauling business in western and northern Indiana after acquiring Indiana Waste Systemsâ¿¿ assets.

Veolia will use Indiana Wasteâ¿¿s trucks, containers and transfer stations to collect 16,000 tons of solid waste a year in Indiana. Jeff VanWeelden, owner and operator of Indiana Waste, Montcello, Ind., is joining Veolia, which is part of Chicago-based Veolia Environmental Services North America Corp.

⿿The acquisition of these assets is consistent with our strategy of entering new marketplaces through the acquisition of fully integrated operations,⿝ said Jim Long, president and CEO of Veolia ES Solid Waste.

Veolia did not disclose details of the transaction.

Based in Milwaukee, Veolia ES Solid Waste operates 76 collection facilities and 30 solid waste sanitary landfill facilities in North America.
