MINNEAPOLIS ( TheStreet) -- UnitedHealth ( UNH) said second-quarter earnings rose 31% to $1.12 billion, or 99 cents a share, as it experienced growth in its health benefits and health services operations. The insurer also raised its outlook for 2010 and said it expects revenue of about $93 billion, and earnings in the range of $3.40 to $3.60 a share. In the year-earlier second quarter, UnitedHealth earned $859 million, or 73 cents a share. Second-quarter revenue rose 7% to $23.26 billion, the company said Tuesday. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected UnitedHealth to earn 75 cents a share in the second quarter on revenue of almost $23 billion. -- Reported by Joseph Woelfel in New York.
