Retail gasoline prices have fallen throughout Texas and nationally, in part, because of relatively stable oil prices, according to analysts with AAA Texas.

The statewide average price for gas in Texas is $2.57, down four cents from last week. In San Antonio, prices are hovering at to $2.55, down three cents from last week.

Typically, the Independence Day Weekend marks off the start of the busy summer drive season. It is a time that prices usually spike.

⿿Four of the last five years at this point in the calendar, gasoline prices were higher than they are today, so looking at the price today from a historical perspective motorists are seeing a time of relative stability in terms of prices and abundant supplies at the gas pump,⿝ says AAA Texas spokesman Dan Ronan.
