WGL Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:WGL), the parent company of Washington Gas and other energy-related subsidiaries, has been named one of the 40 Best Companies for Diversity for the 4th consecutive year, according to Black Enterprise magazine . One thousand publicly traded companies and 50 leading global companies with major U.S. operations were invited to participate in the survey. The survey used four key areas: suppliers, senior management, workforce and corporate board diversity as measurements of each company’s diversity practices. WGL Holdings has the distinction of being one of only two companies surveyed that demonstrated significant strengths in all four criteria for diversity measurement. “We are thrilled that Black Enterprise magazine has recognized WGL Holdings for its commitment to cultivating a diverse workforce for the fourth year in a row,” said William Zeigler, Jr., Vice President of Human Resources for Washington Gas. “As the company moves forward, we will continue our dedication to diversity through enhanced internal initiatives and increased outreach to the community we serve.” The complete list of the 40 Best Companies for Diversity is scheduled for publication in the July 2010 issue of Black Enterprise magazine. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., WGL Holdings has three operating segments: (i) the regulated utility segment which primarily consists of Washington Gas, a natural gas utility that serves over one million customers throughout metropolitan Washington, D.C., and the surrounding region; (ii) the retail-energy marketing segment which consists of Washington Gas Energy Services, Inc., a third-party marketer that competitively sells natural gas and electricity and (iii) the design-build energy systems segment, which consists of Washington Gas Energy Systems, Inc., a provider of design-build energy efficiency solutions to government and commercial clients.
