Smart grid management software company eMeter Corp. said Thursday it raised $12.5 million in new funding.

The San Mateo company will use the funding to expand sales and marketing efforts, enhance services and invest in new products.

The round was led by Sequoia Capital and Foundation Capital, which both have offices in Menlo Park.

Also participating was new investor Northgate Capital, which is based in Danville.
