The average retail price of gasoline fell 3.2 cents per gallon in the past week, according to the website Nationally, the drop was a bit sharper, at 5.9 percent, according to the website.

The average price per gallon in Boston was $2.69, compared with $2.72 on the national level.

The price of gas on July 6 was 3.4 cents per gallon lower than it was a month ago. However, the average price is still 8.3 cents per gallon higher than it was on July 6, 2009.

The national average has moved just 0.1 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 13.9 cents per gallon higher than last July 6, according to BostonGasPrices.
