Tuesdayâ¿¿s high temperatures set a record â¿¿ but not in the meteorological category.

National Grid customers throughout Upstate New York used a record 6,804 megawatts of electricity surpassing the previous all-time high set of 6,692 megawatts on August 2, 2006. The mark was passed between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday,

The utility said it was prepared to make sure the network could handle the additional demand.

Meanwhile, expect another day of hot and humid weather, which again has triggered an air quality alert from the National Weather Service.

The extended hot streak is expected to last through Thursday before the possibility of rain on Friday.
