NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Walgreen ( wag) reported a 2% jump in June same-store sales, seeing a boost in both pharmacy and front-end business. Pharmacy comparable sales grew 1.8%, while front-end sales, which include discretionary merchandise like hair care and cosmetics, rose 2.2%. Duane Reade sales were not included in the monthly tally. The sales report comes after rival Rite Aid ( RAD) posted a 2.5% decline in comparable sales for the month.
