Rufus Kellam has joined biomass developer Rollcast Energy Inc. as vice president of construction. Heâ¿¿ll have primary responsibility for building the companyâ¿¿s 53.5-megawatt Piedmont Green Power project in Georgia and Rollcastâ¿¿s other greenfield projects.

The Charlotte-based company says he also will support other development, acquisition and asset-management efforts for Rollcast.

Kellam joins the company from Topaz Energy of Ireland, where he was vice president of construction management.

⿿Not only is Rufus an excellent construction manager, but he also has a strong background in operations, asset management and transmission,⿝ says Penn Cox, Rollcast⿿s president and chief executive. ⿿He will add considerably to the strength of the Rollcast team.⿝

Before joining Topaz, Kellam worked on energy projects in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Indonesia and Peru. He was previously with a division of The Shaw Group in the western United States and supervised coordination for bulk-power transmission at Charlotte-based Duke Power Co. before it became Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE:DUK).

Rollcast has three biomass projects under construction in South Carolina and Georgia. All are scheduled for completion this year or in 2011.
