NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Rite Aid ( RAD) posted a 2.5% decline in June same-store sales, hurt by both discretionary purchases and its pharmacy business.

The drugstore saw a 1.1% dip in front-end sales, while pharmacy sales fell 3.1%. Rite Aid said its pharmacy business was hurt by the introduction of new generic drugs.

Prescriptions filed on a same-store sales basis also sank 3.7%.
