From the floor of WINDPOWER 2010, Broadwind Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:BWEN) today announced that Olen Richardson has been appointed to lead Broadwind’s efforts to provide innovative Precision Repair and Engineering services for blades to wind energy customers across North America. Richardson serves as vice president of blade repair services within Broadwind’s Energy Maintenance Service (EMS) subsidiary and reports to Paul Seppanen, president of EMS.

Richardson has more than 10 years of experience in manufacturing and servicing composite blades for wind turbines and most recently served as CEO of Wind Services Group, Inc. (WSG) a firm that specialized in blade services.

“I am delighted to welcome Olen and his experienced blade service team to Broadwind,” said Seppanen. “We expect that combining this talented group with our existing blade service capability at EMS will enhance our blade inspection, maintenance and repair services, including scope inspections, erosion and crack prevention and rapid in-air repairs that extend the life of wind blades and provide cost of ownership advantages to our customers.”

Prior to co-founding WSG, Richardson held roles in wind blade services for WindCom and General Electric, and also served for 10 years in the United States Navy.

Through its expanding Precision Repair and Engineering services offering, Broadwind repairs and refurbishes major megawatt (MW) wind turbine fleet components, including control systems, drivetrains and blades in its 300,000-square-foot regional operations center in Abilene, Texas. Broadwind expects to bring online its previously announced MW drivetrain refurbishing center, also in the Abilene area, by the end of 2010.
