NEW YORK, ( TheStreet) -- Turnaround giant and Apple ( AAPL)director Jerry York has died, according to an Apple press release.
York, 71 collapsed at his home and was hospitalized Wednesday in Pontiac, Mich. after suffering a major brain aneurysm, according to multiple reports. York had been a CFO at IBM and Chrysler where he helped those companies through rebuilding efforts. He was also a long time member of Apple's board of directors. "Jerry joined Apple's Board in 1997 when most doubted the company's future. He has been a pillar of financial and business expertise and insight on our Board for over a dozen years," CEO Steve Jobs said in a press release. He added: "It's been a privilege to know and work with Jerry, and I'm going to miss him a lot."
