NEW YORK ( TheStreet) -- Several stocks trading near $5 were moving on above-average volume during Tuesday's session EDAP TMS ( EDAP) jumped by 83 cents, or 33.2%, to $3.35 after the Japanese Administration granted the French medical device company marketing approval of its newly designed Sonolith I-Sys lithotripsy device. Volume topped 2.71 million shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 50,000, according to the Nasdaq. AgFeed Industries ( FEED) rallied by 37 cents, or 16.2%, to $2.65 after the animal feed company said revenue rose 21% in 2009 to $173.2 million as production volume at its hog division and animal nutrition division increased 66% and 56%, respectively. AgFeed said it expects its sow base to increase to 40,000 this year and to 60,000 in 2011. Volume topped 9.78 million shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 1.19 million. Star Scientific ( CIGX) continued to rally on increased volume ahead of its next earnings release, which investors expect in the next several days. Star Scientific last reported quarterly results on Nov. 9. Shares were lately up 12 cents, or 12.5%, to $1.26, bringing its two-day rally to 22%. Volume topped 2.86 million shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 732,000. OccuLogix ( TEAR) tumbled by 69 cents, or 16.8%, to $3.41, retracing some of Monday's 227% rally, after the in-vitro diagnostic company said that at a special meeting on March 3, shareholders approved the sale an issuance of an aggregate of 586,217 shares of common stock, the sale and issuance of an aggregate of 772,258 shares of common stock to certain directors and officers of OccuLogix, and the issuance of 386,798 shares of common stock upon the conversion of convertible notes due 2011. Volume topped 981,000 shares, compared to the 50-day average daily volume of 25,000. . VirnetX ( VHC) dropped by 50 cents, or 7.9%, to $5.85 a day after the start of the real-time communications provider's court showdown with Microsoft ( MSFT). VirnetX claims that Microsoft is improperly using three patents in its Windows operating system.
