CAMP HILL, PA. ( TheStreet) -- Non-pharmacy items continue to drag on Rite Aid ( RAD), as the company's July same-store sales slipped 0.6%

While pharmacy same-store sales grew 1.4%, front-of-store products like cosmetics and candy tanked 4.7%.

Excluding the Brooks and Eckerd stores it acquired back in 2007, Rite Aid's same-store sales were flat.

Total sales during the month dropped 2.4% to $1.93 billion from $1.98 billion

Rite Aid said 68.1% of its revenue came from prescriptions.

Shares grew 9% to $1.52 in afternoon trading.
