Shares of major integrated oil companies finished higher Tuesday in tandem with the stock market and crude oil prices.

The Amex Oil Index rose 1.7% to 847.76. Light, sweet crude futures for May delivery settled up 63 cents to $46.51 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

BP ( BP) was up 2.2% to $39.77.

ConocoPhillips ( COP) rose 2% to $38.71.

Chevron ( CVX) was higher by 1.6% to $38.71.

Sunoco ( SUN) was higher by 3.4% to $27.48.

Royal Dutch Shell ( RDS.B) was up 2.5% to $42.30.

Exxon Mobil ( XOM) closed up 1.4% to $66.23.
