Last week, the big dividend news was that the consumer products company Procter & Gamble (PG) increased its shareholder payout. The company, which markets such products as Olay, Gillette, Crest, Tide and Pampers, has paid dividends since 1890, with 53 total dividend increases, and has increased its dividend every year since 1991.
