Shipping stocks were getting battered along with the broader market Monday, with most marking double-digit percentage losses.

Both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq were floundering Monday in response to a mix of earnings reports and M&A activity. The Dow was recently losing 3.54% and the Nasdaq was slipping 3.93%.

Among widely held dry bulk shippers:

Diana Shipping ( DSX) was down 7.3% to $14.02.

Eagle Bulk ( EGLE) was down 17.4% to $5.69.

Genco ( GNK) was falling 14.2% to $16.38.

Excel Maritime ( EXM) was down 16.6% to $6.29.

DryShips ( DRYS) was falling 13.4% to $6.21.

Navios Maritime ( NM) was down 12.4% to $3.06.
