Shares of many integrated oil companies finished higher on Tuesday, as the stock market rebounded from Monday's selloff.

The Amex Oil index was up 2.25 to 851.07%. Light, sweet crude oil futures for May delivery were down 66 cents to $49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

BP ( BP) finisehd at $40.10, up 67 cents, or 1.70%.

ConocoPhillips ( COP) finished at $39.16, up 14 cents or 0.36%.

Chevron ( CVX) closed at $67.24, up 44 cents, or 0.66%.

Royal Dutch Shell ( RDS.B) finished at $43.61, up 46 cents or 1.07%.

Exxon Mobil ( XOM) finished lower, at $68.10, down 53 cents or 0.77%.
