Tech stocks got a major lift Tuesday, with Palm ( PALM) and other handset makers among the day's big winners.

Palm shares rose 15% to close at $6.92 after the company beefed up it fundraising efforts. Fellow smartphone maker Research In Motion ( RIMM) also saw double-digit percentage gains, rising 10.5% to $38.96. iPhone maker Apple ( AAPL) rose 6.6% to $88.63, and Nokia rose 10.8% to $9.71.

In the semiconductor space, Texas Instruments ( TXN) got a nice lift after narrowing its forecast and raising its midpoint revenue estimate. SanDisk rocketed 19.4% to $9.13. STMicroelectronics ( STM) shot up 9% to $4.13. Intel ( INTC) rose 10.9% to $13.92.

Internet company Google ( GOOG) finished the day up 5.9% to $307.96. Yahoo! ( YHOO) shares rose 4.1% to $13.18. Microsoft rose 8.8% to $16.48.

Computer maker Dell ( DELL) rose 9% to $8.76. Hewlett-Packard ( HPQ) rose 5.6% to $26.96. IBM ( IBM) climbed 4.5% to $87.25.
