"Fast Money," a major hit for CNBC, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Tuesday. The "Fast Money" traders continue to find viewers big opportunities to make money in spaces that many investors ignore.

The crew recently highlighted some trend-bucking trading ideas for three key sectors and stock plays off Taiwan's upcoming elections. Here are some highlights from over the past week as aggregated from the TV show.

Dennis Gartman's Two Favorite Natural Gas Plays: Strategic investor Dennis Gartman, author of The Gartman Letter, sees opportunity in natural gas. On Tuesday's "Fast Money" show, Gartman told viewers, "I think natural gas is cheap relative to crude oil, right now." Dennis Gartman's Two Favorite Natural Gas Plays include US Natural Gas ( UNG).

Fast Money's Natural Gas Stock Picks: On a related note, Joe Terranova, director of trading at MBF Clearing Corp, thinks 2007's laggards will become 2008's leaders in the commodities markets. On last Wednesday's "Fast Money" show, Terranova told viewers, "I see natural gas continuing to move higher despite bearish fundamentals in the overall market. It's a clean and efficient energy source." Fast Money's Natural Gas Stock Picks include El Paso ( EP) and Williams ( WMB) among others.

Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Consumer Sector Picks: Trading against the trend can yield huge profits. On last Thursday's "Fast Money" show, Jeff Macke told viewers: "Blue Nile is my brazen consumer trade. They're an online jeweler that's way off their high." Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Consumer Sector Plays include names like MasterCard ( MA) and IAC/InterActiveCorp ( IACI), among others.

Fast Money's War Chest Stock Plays: The new defense budget is set to be reported next month. On last Friday's "Fast Money" show, Guy Adami told viewers, "I think the best defense companies in the world are located right here in the United States." Fast Money's War Chest Stock Plays include Raytheon ( RTN) and L-3 Communications ( LLL) among others.

Fast Money's Taiwan Stock Picks: Taiwan is set to have a general election in March, and the outcome could make you some fast money. On last Friday's "Fast Money" show, Tim Seymour told viewers, "It's widely believed the opposition party will be friendlier to China. If they win, that should mean big business for Taiwan's companies." Fast Money's Taiwan Stock Picks include Au Optronics ( AUO) among others.

Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Housing Sector Plays: The housing sector has been a bear paradise, but the "Fast Money" traders think it's time to take the other side of the trade. On last Thursday's "Fast Money" show, Pete Najarian told viewers, "I like Lennar ( LEN) because they're sitting on 90,000 homes that they're ready to sell. It could explode." Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Housing Sector Plays include Hovnanian ( HOV) and Lowe's ( LOW).

Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Financial Sector Plays: The "Fast Money" traders see good risk/reward in trading against the trend in the financial sector. On last Thursday's "Fast Money" show, Guy Adami told viewers, "If you're brazen, go right to Citigroup ( C)." Fast Money's Trade-Against-the-Trend Financial Sector Plays include names like Merrill Lynch ( MER).

Fast Money's Best and Worst Stock Calls: As part of the show's one-year anniversary celebration, the traders went over their best and worst stock calls. On Tuesday's "Fast Money" show Pete Najarian told viewers, "I should have waited for insiders to start buying Target ( TGT) before I jumped in."
