Another round of earnings from banks and brokers will be arriving Wednesday, just a day after weak results from the financial sector helped sink the overall market.

Leading the way will be numbers from JPMorgan Chase ( JPM). It will be joined by Wells Fargo ( WFC), Charles Schwab ( SCHW), Knight Trading ( NITE) and Northern Trust ( NTRS).

Also due are quarterly reports from Rambus ( RMBS), Logitech ( LOGI), Progressive ( PGR) and AMR ( AMR).

The data calendar is also full, featuring the consumer price index for December from the Labor Department, the weekly mortgage applications survey from the Mortgage Bankers Association, and industrial production and capacity utilization from the Federal Reserve.

In the afternoon, the Fed will release its beige book, the anecdotal survey on regional economic conditions. Additionally, data on net foreign purchases of U.S. securities and petroleum inventories from the Energy Department are expected.

On TheStreet.com, Priya Ganapati will examine whether Garmin ( GRMN) should pursue an acquisition strategy, and Vishesh Kumar will explain what he likes about Google ( GOOG).
