Avocent's ( AVCT) stock was sinking Monday after the company said its fourth-quarter revenue will likely decline from the same period a year earlier. The hardware and software provider said revenue for the most recent three months should be $155 million to $157 million, down from $164.9 million a year earlier. Analysts were looking for $173.7 million. "We experienced strong sales of Management Systems Division's branded products in Europe and Asia and record sales at our LANDesk Division," stated John R. Cooper, chairman and chief executive of Avocent, in a press release. "However, these results were not enough to offset lower sales of our Management Systems Division's branded products in North America." Avocent said it still expects revenue growth of 10% to 11% in 2008, barring any "significant macroeconomic weakening." The company plans to release its fourth-quarter results on Jan. 24. Shares were falling 18.5% to $16.48.
