The B2B Internet HOLDRs ( BHH) exchange-traded fund was one of Thursday's winners, gaining 1.4% as Ariba ( ARBA) surged. The ETF was up 3 cents to $2.17.

Also among winners, the iShares Silver Trust ( SLV) was higher by 1.2% as silver futures rose 22 cents to $13.49 an ounce. The iShares Silver Trust was up $1.59 to $133.64.

The Internet HOLDRs ( HHH) gained 0.8% as holding eBay ( EBAY) climbed 7.6%. The ETF was gaining 43 cents to $54.91.

On the other hand, ETFs tracking homebuilders were the worst performers of the session. The National Association of Realtors said home sales fell 0.8% to 6.22 million annualized units in December, below estimates of 6.25 million annualized units.

The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Home Construction ( ITB) ETF was falling 3.5% at $40.97. The SPDR Homebuilders ( XHB) ETF was losing 3% to $37.11.

Oil-related ETFs were also weaker after crude slumped $1.14 to $54.23 a barrel. The iShares Dow Jones US Oil Equipment Index ( IEZ) was slipping 2.4% to $43.29. The Oil Services HOLDRs ( OIH) was losing 2.3% to $133.18, and the SPDR Oil & Gas Equipment & Services ( XES) ETF was recently down 2.2% to $28.24.
