Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported an 8.5% advance in fourth-quarter revenue as sales grew in the U.S. and internationally in all of its major segments.

Overall revenue for the quarter was $13.68 billion, up from $12.61 billion last year.

J&J earned $2.17 billion, or 74 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, compared with $2.09 billion and 70 cents a share a year ago. Excluding a charge associated with the acquisition of Pfizer's ( PFE) consumer health care division, J&J would have earned 81 cents, 2 cents better than expected.

Shares of J&J rose 0.8% to $67.74 in premarket trading Tuesday.
