Sears Holdings ( SHLD) Chief Financial Officer Craig Monaghan plans to leave the company after just four months on the job.

The Hoffman Estate, Ill.-based retailer said late Friday that Monaghan plans to return to Florida, where his family still resides. The move is effective at the end of the month.

William Crowley, chief administrative officer, will be interim CFO until a replacement is named. Crowley had served as Sears Holdings' financial chief prior to Monaghan's arrival in September.

Monaghan moved to Sears Holdings from AutoNation ( AN), where he also was CFO. Crowley and Sears Chairman Ed Lampert both sit on AutoNation's board, and Lampert's hedge fund holds a big stake in the auto parts chain.
