Coldwater Creek ( CWTR) plunged 16% late Thursday after the apparel chain shaved its fourth-quarter earnings targets by a dime a share.

The Sandpoint, Idaho, company said it now expects to make 16 or 17 cents a share for the quarter ending Feb. 3, down from previous guidance of 26 to 27 cents a share. Coldwater cited slow traffic, which it said crimped sales of fashion-knit tops, moleskin pants, jewelry and accessories.

Shares fell $3.66 to $19.95.
