The iShares Silver Trust ( SLV) exchange-traded fund was Friday's best performer as silver futures surged 32 cents to $12.78 an ounce. The ETF was gaining $4.31, or 3.5%, to $127.21. Oil-related ETFs were also among the winners as crude prices halted a four-session decline that brought oil to its lowest level in 19 months. Crude was recently up $1.07 to $52.95 a barrel. The SPDR Oil & Gas Equipment & Services ( XES) ETF was recently up 2% to $27.39. The SPDR Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ( XOP) ETF was adding 2.2% to $36.19. The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Exploration Index ( IEO) ETF was higher by 1.9% to $45.45, and he Oil Services HOLDRs ( OIH) was gaining 2% to $128.71. The B2B Internet HOLDRs ( BHH) was rising as holding Checkfree ( CKFR) was gaining 1%. The ETF was up 3 cents, or 1.3%, to $2.28. On the flip side, the Utilities HOLDRs ( UTH) lost ground as Exelon ( EXC) was falling by 1.2%. The ETF was lower by 66 cents, or 0.5%, to $125.20. The Broadband HOLDRs ( BDH) was weaker as Broadcom ( BRCM) dropped 1.3%, sinking the ETF by 7 cents, or 0.4%, to $15.73.
