UBS upgraded MetLife (MET) to buy from neutral Thursday, citing the prospect of a strong fourth quarter.

The New York-based insurer is due to post year-end numbers Feb. 14.

UBS said MetLife, which recently sold the Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town apartment complexes in Lower Manhattan for a windfall profit, could soon begin returning cash to shareholders.
