Cheesecake Factory's ( CAKE) shares were rising late Monday after the company reported stronger fourth-quarter sales than analysts were expecting.

The restaurant operator had revenue of $360.4 million for the quarter, more than $6 million ahead of the consensus Wall Street estimate. Same-store sales increased 0.8% in the fourth quarter.

"We are very pleased with our improving sales trends at The Cheesecake Factory," the company said. "The positive comparable sales for the quarter gives us more confidence as we head into fiscal 2007."

Shares of Cheesecake Factory were up 6.6% to $26.17 in late trading.
