Bundled securities tracking chip stocks were rising Monday. Among individual names, STMicroelectronics ( STM) was higher by 3.4%, Broadcom ( BRCM) was up 2.3%, and Texas Instruments ( TXN) was tacking on 1.1%. The Semiconductor HOLDRs ( SMH) ETF was higher by 1.3% to $34.28. The iShares Goldman Sachs Semiconductor ( IGW) was gaining 1% to $61.44. The PowerShares Dynamic Semiconductors ( PSI) ETF was recently up 0.6% to $17.33, and the SPDR Semiconductor ( XSD) ETF was adding 0.5% to $49.50. The Internet Architecture HOLDRs ( IAH) was higher by 1.1%. Holding EMC ( EMC) was rising 4.5%, boosting the ETF by 47 cents to $44.11. ETFs tracking software makers were also among the top performers. SAP AG ( SAP) was adding 3.8%, Tibco Software ( TIBX) was gaining 2.5%, and Oracle ( ORCL) was edging higher by 1.3%. The Software HOLDRs ( SWH) ETF was up 37 cents, or 0.9%, to $41.38, and the iShares Goldman Sachs Software Index ( IGV) ETF was rising by 40 cents, or 0.9% to $45.39. On the other hand, ETFs related to homebuilders were among the biggest losers of the session. Toll Brothers ( TOL), Beazer Homes ( BZH), Hovnanian ( HOV) and Lennar ( LEN) were all lower by 2% or more. The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Home Construction ( ITB) ETF was lower by 2.3% at $39.46. The SPDR Homebuilders ( XHB) ETF was falling 1.7% to $35.38. The Broadband HOLDRs ( BDH) ETF was also weaker. Holding Tellabs ( TLAB) dropped 4.5% after the telecom-equipment maker warned that fourth-quarter earnings would be below expectations, sinking the ETF by 14 cents, or 0.9%, to $15.53.
