Cisco ( CSCO) agreed to acquire privately held IronPort Systems, a company that helps secure Internet messaging and email, for $830 million.

The acquisition should close in the third quarter of Cisco's fiscal year 2007. Cisco expects the deal to be neutral to its fiscal year adjusted earnings.

IronPort was founded in 2000 and has 408 employees based primarily in San Bruno, Calif.
