Graco ( GGG), a supplier of technology for fluid management, said its second-quarter earnings rose 16% from a year earlier, led by higher sales across all segments. The company earned $41.3 million, or 60 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with $35.6 million, or 51 cents a share, a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call were expecting earnings of 60 cents a share in the most recent quarter. Second-quarter revenue rose 10.3% from a year ago to $218.6 million. Revenue from the industrial segment rose 11.5% to $104.6 million. Revenue from contractor equipment segment rose 7.7% to $96.5 million, led by new product introductions and growth in the professional paint stores and home center channel. Revenue from lubrication equipment division segment rose 18.1% to $17.6 million. "Our actions to improve the profitability and cash flow of Liquid Control and Gusmer are on track and we are pleased with the opportunities we have identified to improve the profitability of Lubriquip," the company said. "While the short cycle nature of our business provides us with a limited view of future product demand, as we head into the second half of 2006, we remain confident that we can achieve another year of record sales and earnings."
