AK Steel Raising Stainless Prices

AK Steel ( AKS), a producer of flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, announced Tuesday that transaction prices for all hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel sheet, strip, tubular quality and continuous mill plate products would be increased by about 6%, effective with shipments on August 6.

The transaction price increases will be accomplished through a two percentage point reduction in the functional discount rate, which equates to about $70 per ton, the Middletown, Ohio-based company said.
