Bombay Stocks Sink Again

BOMBAY -- Bombay stocks dropped for the third straight day.

The Sensex fell 219.44 points to close at 10,007 as all but two of the constituent stocks declined Wednesday.

The only gainers in the index were ONGC, which gained 1.8%, and Ranbaxy Laboratories, which gained 0.6%.

Among the top losers were Wipro ( WIT), which lost 6% despite a 53% profit gain, Satyam Computers ( SAY), which lost 5.3% and Tata Consultancy Services, which lost 4.5%.

Industrial Development Bank of India posted a 39% rise in net profits for the latest quarter. The company's stock was down 1.2%.
