BOMBAY -- Bombay stocks dropped for the second straight session Tuesday.

The Sensex fell 66 points to close at 10,227, as 18 of the index's 30 stocks declined.

The major gainers in the index were Wipro ( WIT) and Satyam ( SAY), which each gained 1.8%, and Infosys Technologies ( INFY), which gained 1.5%.

The losers on the index were Hindalco, which lost 3.8%, Tata Steel, which lost 3.2%, and Larsen & Toubro, which lost 2.7%.

HDFC fell 1% after posting a 20% rise in its net profit for the quarter ended June 30.

Suzlon Energy, a power company, rose 4.3% after it announced a 15 billion-rupee plan to set up integrated manufacturing facilities in India to cater to the increasing export market share and demand.
