The BSE Sensex closed at 10,919.64, up 257.42 points Wednesday, as investors became more interested in buying as the session wore on. Although the Sensex opened on a cautious note, the market enjoyed a northbound journey for the entire day. Gainers included Reliance Energy, which surged 5.39%, Grasim, up 4.95%, and Tata Steel, higher by 4.92%. Among decliners, Wipro ( WIT) fell 0.66%, and SBI lost 0.07%. Godrej Consumer Products moved up 4.48% on news it's acquiring the South African hair-color business of Rapidol in an all-cash deal. The purchase will enable Godrej to market its products in South Africa and other African countries.
