BOMBAY -- The Bombay stocks closed lower Tuesday after a final-hour selloff.

The BSE Sensex dropped 66 to close at 10,787. The index is up 61% from a year ago but has lost 14% in three weeks since its May 11 peak.

Losers Tuesday included Hero Honda, down 4.8%, Tata Motors ( TTM), down 4.5%, Maruti and Bharti Tele, each down 3.2%.

Gainers were Cipla, Infosys ( INFY - Get Report) and Tata Power, all up about 2%.

Ipca Laboratories gained 0.9% despite a 17% decline in its yearly profit for 2006.

Indian Oil rose 2.2% as its shareholders approved a merger with subsidiary IBP.
